You are not a victim!

Today I will be reviewing a fiction novel with the hopes of showing the importance of standing with Christ in the most difficult of times in you life, and to show the importance of speaking up against those who purposely hurt you rather then staying silent playing the victim role.
The title for the book is Indigo's Struggle. In connection to silence, indigo herself struggles with speaking up for herself. She instead for most of the book allows others to dictate how her day is going to, how her high school and even junior high school experience is going to go and even how her life is ran. Indigo grows up with a mom who does not like to talk about how things make her feel or express her emotions and no dad. Her mom hides her feelings of hurt and finds things to distract her instead, in turn Indigo internalizes this same behavior and it gets her into a world of trouble. Silence is what keeps this story going and its what allows more and more trouble to erupt as the story goes on. This story is a wonderful lesson for what happens when a bully bullies but more so what happens when we coward away and except what lies a bully speaks over our lives. On page 82 of the novel Indigo cries out to herself after being bullied "What have I done wrong? Why do they look at me like I've committed a crime? When will this end? Is this a dream?". Its clear Indigo can not take on anymore disapointment and is now wishing her life to be a dream. This story shows the power of words and the importance of speaking up against wrong doing especially when your enemies try and silence you or make you feel guilty for speaking up. This story also shows the importance of first learning and second being who God has called you to be. You are not a victim even though the world around you will try nits best to victimize you and eat you up! Instead you are a victor in Christ Jesus! There is a saying people will only do what you allow them to. If you play the victim role that is going to be an open door for your enemies to treat you as such. If you show them its not going to fly and you take action against it then that is just the start to your victory.
Like a lot of children Indigo's relationship with Christ as a young girl is a close one. She attends church and loves the Lord. But as time progresses so does the world around Indigo change. And with not a big support system at home Indigo falls as prey to this world. As she is introduced to new ideas and ways of living from her peers, Indigo slowly but surely falls away from the Lord and into the things of this world. She grows less passionate for the things of God and more and more passionate with pleasing her flesh. Soon she has little to no relationship with God and start having sex at a young teen. On page 88 of the novel Indigo expressed through her thoughts "I still don't recognize who I have become. All I know is I am far away from the girl I once was", it is clear Indigo knew her actions were wrong. There is huge and noticeable difference in Indigo's relationship with Jesus. But this story is beautiful in the fact that it portrays our true fleshly character and more importantly it portrays the true nature and character of Christ. Although indigo fell away from Christ, Jesus never once fell away from her. Christ still redeemed her and gave her the strength she needed to stand up for herself. He especially gave her the strength to come on back to Jesus and live right and Holy unto God.
